New equipment for diamond cleaning has been commissioned at processing plant No. 3 of the Mirny-Nyurba Mining and Processing Plant, which is part of ALROSA. Chinese-made M6 microwave digestion units have replaced German counterparts as part of the import substitution program.
The new machines use microwave pressure technology to clean diamond-containing concentrate from impurities. The process is fully automated, eliminating the need to manually move the mixture into a sealed chamber, as was previously the case. The integrated ventilation system ensures the removal of harmful vapors, creating safe conditions for workers. According to workshop foreman Lidia Gerasimova, the equipment allows for deep cleaning of diamonds at the final stage, giving the stones a characteristic shine.
The introduction of new units has increased the factory's production capacity due to their greater capacity. The decision to switch to Chinese equipment was made after tests conducted jointly with Yakut scientists.
