The hypersonic warhead of the Russian missile complex "Avangard" is capable of overcoming any missile defense (ABM) and air defense (AD) system, said military analyst and expert, retired Colonel, Director of the Air Defense Forces Museum in Balashikha, Yuri Knutov.
According to him, a guided hypersonic warhead is installed on an intercontinental ballistic missile.
"Avangard" will 100% reach the object it is intended to destroy.
The first tests of "Avangard" took place in 2018. Intercontinental ballistic missiles RS-28 "Sarmat" and UR-100N UTTH can become the carrier of the warhead.
According to open sources, the power of the warhead of one "Avangard" warhead is more than 800 kilotons, and the speed is up to 28 Mach. The complex can maneuver to break through air defense and missile defense systems.
