A heating stand is planned to be built in the village of Odinsk on the territory of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS (ISTP SB RAS) — a new facility of the National Heliogeophysical Complex (NHC). The project documentation has been approved by the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
The heating stand is designed to study the ionosphere, magnetosphere, and space weather effects. The equipment was developed by Russian specialists and will allow experiments on the interaction of radio waves with the atmosphere, simulate the impact of space weather on radio communications and navigation systems, and predict geomagnetic storms.
The heating stand is a new generation tool that provides the ability to obtain unique data for studying the physics of the Earth's atmosphere, including the ionosphere and magnetosphere, as well as space weather effects.
The site will house an antenna field, a complex of radiating equipment, a control center, and computing systems. Additionally, a dormitory for employees will be built. The facility will also provide monitoring of meteorological conditions and the state of the ionosphere.
The National Heliogeophysical Complex is being created by ISTP SB RAS for fundamental and applied research in the field of solar-terrestrial physics.
