In the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg, a 70-year-old woman fell victim to telephone scammers. This was reported by the publications "MK in St. Petersburg" and 47news, citing police data.
An unknown person called the pensioner, introduced himself as an employee of "Rosfinans", and convinced her to install the Max messenger, allegedly to protect her savings. Later, another attacker contacted the woman, calling himself an FSB employee.
Following their instructions, the St. Petersburg resident met with couriers twice near her house on Burenin Street and handed them a total of 2.45 million rubles. Different people came for the money.
In fact, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on fraud on a particularly large scale. Police are investigating all the circumstances of the incident.
