The 2GIS service has added over 12.4 thousand public Wi-Fi hotspots in 17 Russian cities to its maps. This innovation will help users stay connected in case of mobile communication issues.
You can find access points by simply entering "Wi-Fi hotspots" or "wifi" in the 2GIS search. This information is available in both mobile applications for Android and iOS, as well as on the 2gis.ru website.
2GIS applications can work in offline mode, but you need to download the map of the desired city in advance. Searching for Wi-Fi hotspots is also available without an internet connection.
Currently, the service features access points in cities such as Moscow, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Naberezhnye Chelny, Almetyevsk, Tolyatti, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, Cheboksary, and Magnitogorsk. Expansion of the geography is planned in the near future, including St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
Access points are located in convenient places: at public transport stops, in parks, libraries, cultural institutions, as well as in cafes and shopping centers. Information about them comes from local administrations, internet providers, and 2GIS specialists who collect data based on open sources and reports from organizations.
