Russian "Tor" Systems Receive Additional Armor and Electronic Warfare for the First Time

A total of 60 improvements have been made to the SAM system's radio equipment

Russian Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) have received additional armor and an electronic warfare (EW) system to protect against drones, according to military expert Viktor Murakhovsky.

The Tor control system allows the crew to monitor the missile launch until the target is hit. The SAM radar can guide both 9M331 missiles and the new 9M338K missiles. The expert emphasized that one missile is usually enough to destroy a target.

The latest Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system features an all-aspect EW system, additional armor for the hull and turret, and an all-weather visual control system.

In July, Fanil Ziyatdinov, General Director of the Kupol plant, noted that 85 improvements were made to the Tor SAM system's design, including 25 improvements to the chassis modernization and 60 to the complex's radio equipment.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Uralvagonzavod unveiled a new version of the T-72B3M with drone protection in the front of the tank.
