Class X Predicted: Two Powerful Flares Recorded on the Sun on August 12

The M1.5 flare lasted 34 minutes, and the M1.8 flare lasted nine minutes

On the night of August 12, the Sun emitted two powerful flares of the penultimate power class. This was reported by the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG").

At 03.59 Moscow time, an M1.5 flare lasting 34 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in spot group 4168 (N03W89), and at 04.23 Moscow time, an M1.8 flare lasting nine minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in spot group 4168 (N05W89).

These events may foreshadow further activity. During the day (August 12), flares of the highest class X are possible, which may affect the Earth's magnetic field and cause geomagnetic storms.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a fireworks display of 17 flares occurred on the Sun in less than two days.
