Подрежут крылья: иностранные авиакомпании хотят наказывать в России ограничением числа полётов

Airlines may have their flights reduced for non-compliance with passenger rights

The All-Russian Passenger Association (OOP) has initiated changes in legislation. They are aimed at protecting the rights of Russian passengers.

The reason for this was the cases of incomplete baggage loading on Turkish Airlines flights on August 9-10. The airline explained this by the need to increase fuel reserves due to restrictions in the operation of some airports.

The OOP plans to appeal to the Ministry of Transport with a proposal to tighten the responsibility of foreign air carriers for violations such as the lack of food during long delays and intentional underloading of baggage. It is proposed to enshrine in Russian air legislation a mechanism allowing for the reduction of flight frequency for companies that commit repeated violations.

The Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport, Ilya Zotov, said that the corresponding proposal would be sent to the aviation authorities in the near future. Passengers' complaints against a number of foreign carriers, including Turkish Airlines and Egypt Air, arose against the background of disruptions in May, when airports were temporarily closed. Passengers reported a shortage of food and hotels during long delays, as well as cases when they were not allowed to leave the aircraft.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that foreign airlines have occupied 40% of the international transportation market in Russia.
