The paddle steamer "N.V. Gogol", Russia's oldest passenger ship, has completed its 114th navigation, carrying about 9,000 residents and guests of the Arkhangelsk region. In total, it is planned to receive up to 13,000 people on its excursions and programs during the summer season.
The steamer was built in 1911 at the Sormovo shipyard in Nizhny Novgorod. Since 1972, it has belonged to the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, which allows it to be maintained in working order. Despite its age, the ship continues to be used for tourist and excursion trips along the Northern Dvina.
Last year, "N.V. Gogol" set a record, making 118 voyages and carrying more than 12,000 passengers. The growing popularity of river trips on the historic ship has been noted for several years. The current season is also expected to be successful.
"N.V. Gogol" remains the only operating paddle steamer in Russia.
Earlier, www1.ru reported on the preparation of the steamer for its 114th navigation.
