Russian scientists have created an advanced coating for teeth that reproduces the structure of natural enamel and protects against caries.
The biomimetic coating works on the principle of natural tooth protection. Thanks to the content of nanohydroxyapatite, which is the main component of human enamel, a comprehensive effect on the tooth surface is ensured: microcracks are restored, enamel is strengthened, protection against acids and prevention of bacteria penetration are provided. The antibacterial properties of the material are enhanced by quinoline compounds, which effectively fight against cariogenic microorganisms.
The development provides long-lasting protection and safety, as it is based on natural components. The ease of application makes it a universal remedy for both preventing and treating early forms of caries. Thanks to its practicality and high efficiency, this technology can significantly enrich the arsenal of modern dentistry.
The implementation of the coating will be phased. Currently, preparatory and clinical trials are underway, which will be completed by 2025-2026. The registration certificate is expected in 2026-2027, after which the technology will be used in leading Russian dental clinics. Mass use of biomimetic coating is planned for the period from 2028 to 2030.
