Russian Court Initiated Bankruptcy Proceedings on August 8

The court initiated bankruptcy proceedings for Microsoft's Russian "daughter," Microsoft Rus LLC, on August 8.

The company itself initiated the bankruptcy procedure, applying to the court with a statement on May 30 of this year. The 2024 report stated that Microsoft Corporation is not considering the liquidation of its Russian representative office.

Since the beginning of 2025, four lawsuits have been filed against Microsoft Rus for a total amount of 110 million rubles. In 2023, Russian companies filed lawsuits for 170 million rubles, in 2024 for 26.6 million rubles, and in 2022 for 34.7 million rubles. The plaintiffs include such large companies as Severstal, Sitronics, Uralkali, the National Settlement Depository, VTB, MegaFon, Gazprombank, Lenta, and Medsi Group.

In early August, it became known that Microsoft Rus's debts to Russian companies exceed 1.5 billion rubles. Since 2022, the company has received more than 30 lawsuits, including from Gazprombank, Severstal, Aeroflot, ALROSA, the Bank of Russia, and others.
