Ultrasound Applied in Oil Production: TSU Specialists Develop Devices to Break Down Sand Plugs in Formations

Togliatti State University (TSU) has entered into an agreement with the Kazan-based company MNKT LLC for the development and supply of equipment

Togliatti State University (TSU) has entered into an agreement with the Kazan-based company MNKT LLC for the development and supply of equipment for oil production.

TSU specialists will create ultrasonic devices that will increase the efficiency of oil production by breaking down sand plugs and resin-paraffin deposits in formations, as well as reduce oil viscosity. In addition, the university offered its partner a three-channel ultrasonic flowmeter for accurate measurement of liquid and gas volume in pipelines.

Another development is a check valve for well flushing without lifting equipment from depth, which will reduce costs. According to TSU representatives, there are currently no analogues to this solution. The university is also ready to provide maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of oilfield equipment.

MNKT LLC has been operating in Tatarstan since 2001, operating over 400 wells and producing over 450,000 tons of oil per year. The company is interested in TSU students for internships.
