Will Russia test the Burevestnik at Novaya Zemlya? The missile carries a nuclear warhead

Airspace about 500 km long near the archipelago was closed from August 7 to 12

Russia closed a 500 km section of airspace along the west coast of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago from August 7 to 12.

According to preliminary information, we are talking about testing the Burevestnik strike system based on the 09M730 cruise missile with a ramjet gas turbine and a nuclear power plant, which has an almost unlimited range.

The Pankovo cosmodrome on Novaya Zemlya has been used for nuclear weapons testing since the late 1950s. Journalists also recorded four ships off the coast of the archipelago - according to observer Thomas Nilsen, they were located exactly along the trajectory of the alleged missile flight.

In October 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin also reported that the military had conducted successful tests of the Burevestnik. According to data from open sources, the missile is capable of delivering strikes from almost any vector.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the Zircon missiles could not be combined with the Su-57 fighter.
