In the St. Petersburg Metro, since August 4, there has been a requirement to demonstrate the operability of electronics during inspection. This was reported by the press service of the metro. According to the new rules, devices with a discharged battery are not allowed through control, although it is impossible to connect to outlets in the lobbies.

Passengers are faced with a situation where equipment without charge becomes a reason for refusal to pass. At stations such as "Prospekt Veteranov" and "Elizarovskaya", people could not pass inspection without demonstrating the operation of the devices. Connecting to the power grid in the metro is prohibited due to technical and organizational restrictions. USB ports, if any, are only for charging phones.
The reason for the new requirements is Order of the Ministry of Transport No. 34, which entered into force on March 1. It obliges inspection officers to turn on and check the operation of electronics. Previously, this was recommended, now it is mandatory. The metro explains the ban on the use of sockets by high passenger load and risks to equipment.
The metro service stressed that the set of measures is aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of passengers from possible threats. Passengers are advised to charge their devices in advance or bring portable batteries with them.
