Russians to be allowed to inherit digital accounts of deceased relatives

State Duma deputies came up with such a proposal

The "New People" faction in the State Duma has initiated a bill that will allow heirs to access the digital accounts of their relatives. The deputies have sent a corresponding request to the Ministry of Justice.

The authors of the initiative noted that at present, the fate of digital assets depends on the internal rules of the platforms. Therefore, heirs often lose access not only to family memories, but also to material assets that may be associated with accounts.

Other countries already have legislation that equates access to digital assets with inheritance of traditional property. Many large IT companies have implemented features that allow you to appoint a "digital heir," which simplifies the account transfer process.

This initiative could significantly change the approach to digital assets in Russia. If the law is passed, it will create a legal framework for the transfer of accounts and other digital resources. This will help protect the rights of heirs and ensure the safety of family information.
