Territorial units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia will receive 530 onboard systems for recognizing vehicle registration plates.
The systems are designed for installation on traffic police patrol cars performing control and supervisory functions in the field of road safety. The supply of equipment will be provided under contracts concluded with the FCD "Directorate of the Road Safety Program". In total, four models of hardware and software systems are provided.
As explained in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the systems will be used to automatically identify vehicles in the traffic flow that are wanted, as well as drivers who have been deprived of their rights.
The head of the State Traffic Inspectorate, Mikhail Chernikov, previously announced plans to equip patrol cars with such systems. According to him, purchases are being made within the framework of the federal project "Road Safety" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life".
Among the popular and widely used solutions are the "Arena", "Kris-P" and "Fotoradar" systems, developed taking into account Russian conditions and standards.
