Anapa dismantles the barrier protecting the coast from fuel oil plume from the tanker "Volgoneft-212"

Work is underway from Lechebny Beach to Vityazevo

In the Krasnodar Territory, the dismantling of most of the sand barrier built along the Anapa coastline to protect against fuel oil emissions has been completed. This was reported by the operational headquarters of the region.

The work was carried out simultaneously from two directions - from Lechebny Beach and from the side of Vityazevo. The barrier, divided into three conditional sections, was completely dismantled on two of them. Dismantling became possible due to the absence of significant pollution in these areas in recent months, as well as to complete the cleaning of the beaches. The sand embankment itself contained traces of fuel oil and was subject to removal.

The only section where the barrier was preserved is from the Era technopolis to the mouth of the Mozhepsin River. Underwater work and collection of settled fuel oil continue in this area.

In Anapa, the ban on swimming and visiting beaches, as well as any form of recreational use - from renting sun loungers to water attractions - remains in effect.

Situation with fuel oil in Anapa: latest data

From July 16 to 23, minor oil spills were recorded only in the area of the village of Dzhemete. Municipal services promptly eliminated the pollution. Barrier structures, including polypropylene ropes, have been installed to protect the coast.

Since the beginning of the elimination of the consequences of the accident caused by the sinking of the tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" in December 2024, more than 790 km of coastline have been cleaned, over 177 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil have been collected, of which almost 175 thousand tons have already been taken for disposal.

Under water, divers collected 1.5 thousand tons of oily soil. The operation involves 1.3 thousand people and more than 300 pieces of equipment. Work is being completed to dismantle the remains of tankers in the Kerch Strait - 98% of the superstructures have been cut off, and protective cofferdams are being prepared for installation.
