The heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" of Project 1143.5 will be mothballed, the decision was made at the headquarters of the Russian Navy. In the future, it will either be sold or disposed of.
Former commander of the Pacific Fleet (TOF), Admiral Sergei Avakyants, noted that in the event of conservation, all working mechanisms are removed from the ships to put them on other vessels. At the same time, a minimal crew on the aircraft carrier will still remain to monitor its condition.
If the full crew consisted of 2.2 thousand people, then in order to monitor the object in a mothballed state, it is unlikely that more than 150–200 people will be needed. They must ensure that there is no fire and control the flow of water.
Avakyants suggested that the aircraft carrier, in the event of disposal, will most likely be dismantled. Moreover, this will happen in Russia, other countries are unlikely to take on the dismantling of the aircraft carrier.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" with "Calibers", "Zircons" and "Onyxes" has completed repairs.
