The Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia have begun using a new air-to-air missile, the "Product 180" (R-77M). The ammunition has a new tail assembly, a new engine, and an active radar homing head (ARH).
The K77M missile should completely eliminate the gap in range with American AIM-120D class missiles. The maximum speed of the missile can reach 4900-5100 km/h, the mid-trajectory speed is 3500 km/h, thanks to the ammunition, fighters will be able to intercept targets at an altitude of up to 30 km.
The missile was originally developed for Su-57 fighters to counter "4++" generation aircraft. According to its characteristics, it is capable of destroying targets at a range of up to 190 km.
According to military experts, the new means of destruction in the arsenal of domestic Su-30SM and Su-35S fighters will significantly expand the capabilities for intercepting Mirage-2000-5F and F-16AM aircraft.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" with "Caliber", "Zircon", and "Onyx" missiles has completed repairs.
