Магнитные бури накроют Землю в выходные — вероятность 65%

The cause of geomagnetic disturbances was a solar prominence ejected by the Sun

Magnetic storms caused by a small prominence ejected by the Sun may occur on Earth on the weekend. This is reported in the information from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS.

A small prominence located almost exactly in the center of the visible solar disk was ejected from the Sun towards the Earth yesterday. The object was observed all this week and disappeared from the images yesterday at the beginning of the day. Part of the prominence plasma was ejected towards the Earth during its destruction, although at low speeds.

Weak magnetic storms (G1) will begin on the weekend with a probability of 65%. The probability of stronger storms is about 15%.

The event will not affect the passage of radio signals, as well as the functioning of spacecraft.

The degree of disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field is measured on a scale of five indicators, where G5 means "extremely strong" and G1 means "weak."

Earlier www1.ru reported how to protect yourself from magnetic storms.
