Fraudsters have stolen almost 1 million rubles from Russians by offering them a job as a moderator on the OnlyFans platform. This was reported by F6, an information security company.
The attackers post ads about high income for remote content monitoring work and, through Telegram, convince victims to download a malicious application disguised as the OnlyFans mobile app.
To allegedly link a bank card, a symbolic subscription of 1 ruble is required. When entering data, the application intercepts SMS messages with codes from the bank, which allows fraudsters to withdraw money from the account and even take out a loan in the victim's name.
Since the beginning of 2025, 93 people have been affected by this scheme, with total losses amounting to 869 thousand rubles, and the maximum damage for one person being 155 thousand rubles.
Why this is important: This scheme shows how fraudsters use popular services and social engineering to gain access to personal finances. It is important not to trust suspicious offers and not to download unknown applications.
