"No Money": The State of Affairs in the Russian Aviation Industry with the State Defense Order Revealed

Aviation Expert Zakharov: The Profitability of the State Defense Order Cannot Withstand Criticism

The profitability from the state defense order for aircraft manufacturers in Russia is too small to be able to develop. This point of view was expressed by Alexei Zakharov, an independent expert on the automotive industry and aviation.

According to him, the figure of 4% profitability that appeared on the Web is too small.

The profitability of the state defense order, from my point of view, cannot withstand criticism. In order to develop, you need to have a profitability of at least 15%. This is not the case, because there is no money. Our real inflation is noticeably higher than official statistics. Therefore, the fulfillment of the state defense order does not guarantee the financial well-being of the plant that fulfills this order.

Viktor Gorbachev, General Director of the Airport Association, agreed that 4% profitability is "nothing at all." But this money is guaranteed, unlike commercial transactions with airlines.

State money is, of course, better than commercial money. In commerce, they may or may not pay. Or they will say: "You take out a loan, and we will pay you later." And loans are crazy now. If the key rate is 20%, then loans go under 30-40%.

PJSC Tupolev previously stated that the company's profitability under the state defense order is 4%.

Earlier www1.ru reported that 400 million rubles were allocated for the modernization of the Tu-214.
