New Sanctions Package: European Union disconnects 22 more Russian banks from SWIFT

The 18th package of sanctions includes Russian banks, tankers, Nord Streams, and dual-use IT exports

The European Union has agreed on the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions, which, according to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kai Kallas, will be one of the toughest to date.

More than 50 individuals and legal entities, 22 Russian banks, including measures involving their disconnection from SWIFT and a complete blocking of operations, have been sanctioned.

Restrictions have been imposed on 105 tankers carrying Russian oil, the Nord Streams, as well as Rosneft's oil refinery in India. The EU has also lowered the price cap on Russian oil to $47.6 per barrel and banned the import of petroleum products based on it.

Export restrictions have also been introduced on dual-use products and sanctions against a number of Chinese banks that Brussels associates with supporting Russia.
