Kalashnikov Concern has announced the release of a new batch of BI-7-4 sports rifles, designed for training future biathletes in Russian sports schools. This is one of the largest orders for this model in recent years.
The "Biathlon-7-4" small-bore rifle remains one of the most popular in Russian sports. The model has retained the key advantages of previous versions, but has received improvements: increased shooting accuracy even at temperatures down to -20 °C and an improved trigger mechanism. This reduces reloading time and increases rate of fire.
The rifle is available in two coating options (chrome plating or phosphate lacquer) and with a birch or walnut stock. With a length of 1100 mm and a weight of 3.5 kg, it is equipped with a 5-round magazine for 5.6 mm (.22LR) caliber cartridges.
In 2019, Kalashnikov, together with TsNIITochMash, developed a "weapon-cartridge" complex that allows biathletes to use BI-7-4 rifles with Olimp-BI cartridges. This ensures stability of combat and reduces dependence on imported counterparts.
