Norilsk Airport in Taimyr plans to create its own modular data processing center (DPC) worth 255.4 million rubles. According to documents on the public procurement portal, published on July 9, the facility should be commissioned by the end of 2026.
The customer envisages the construction of a modular data center with 15 racks — ready-made blocks that are assembled on site. The data center will be equipped with redundant communication channels, engineering systems and protection against drones. According to experts, this approach minimizes risks for critical infrastructure.
Timofey Khoroshev, partner of the technology consulting practice at DRT, believes that the airport is a strategic object, being the main transport artery for connecting Norilsk with the mainland, and that in these conditions, organizing its own data center for the airport is a way to manage risks. According to Kirill Soliev from Softline Solutions, regional airports usually use data centers with 10–20 racks, which corresponds to the needs of Norilsk.
