For Testing Pipes up to 1,220 mm in Diameter: First Stand in Russia Created in Chelyabinsk

85% Russian and 15% German Components Used to Manufacture the Stand

The South Ural State University (SUSU) has developed the first stand in Russia for testing pipes up to 1,220 mm in diameter. This was announced by Dmitry Ardashev, a professor at SUSU.

The new stand allows for research into the strength of large-diameter pipes, their lifespan, as well as resistance to external mechanical loads and seismic impacts.

It is unique not only in its size but also in the range of tests, simulating a wide variety of impacts on the pipe using special tracking hydraulic drives. The result is a forecast of the safety of oil pipelines and a list of emergency risks, up to the exact dates of verification and correction factors.

The development of Chelyabinsk scientists will be in demand by manufacturers of oil and gas equipment and companies involved in its operation. The stand uses 85% Russian and 15% German components. The main components of the stand are 8 tracking hydraulic drives. They have hydrostatic guides, which ensures high accuracy of testing.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that a unique stand for testing hybrid aircraft engines of the future was created in Russia.
