Российские специалисты модернизируют корабельные ЗРК «Кашмир» для эсминцев проекта 15 типа Delhi ВМС Индии

Improved systems will be able to launch a new surface-to-air missile with an inclined launch

SAM systems were supplied from Russia to India from the late 90s for installation on Project 15 Delhi-class escort destroyers. Rosoboronexport explained that the modernization of the complex will allow the use of not only the standard, but also a new surface-to-air guided missile (SAM) with an inclined launch. It is equipped with Shtil-1 SAM systems on Talwar and Shivalik class frigates.

The shipborne SAM system "Shtil-1" is designed to engage all modern air attack weapons at medium ranges and target flight altitudes from 5 m to 15 km. It was developed by employees of the Moscow Research Institute of Radio Electronics "Altair" (part of the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern).

Characteristics of "Shtil-1":

  • Number of simultaneously engaged targets — up to 12
  • Target speeds — up to 830 m/s
  • Reaction time in standby mode — 10-19 seconds
