In 2024, Russian motorists made 379 million trips on toll roads managed by the state company Avtodor. Compared to previous periods, activity increased by a third, which confirms the growing demand for high-speed highways.
According to operators, the average daily traffic intensity on a number of key routes has increased significantly. For example, on the M-12 Vostok, traffic increased by 17% in the first half of 2025, and in some sections - up to 43%. On the M-1 Belarus, an increase of 12% was recorded, on the M-11 Neva - 7%, and on the Central Ring Road the increase was 4%, on the M-4 Don highway the figures increased by 10%.
Modern roads are equipped with smart payment systems, automatic violation recording cameras and high-quality pavement, which reduces travel time and increases safety. However, there remains the problem of unscrupulous drivers who evade payment by hiding or removing license plates. Since the beginning of 2025, Avtodor, the State Traffic Inspectorate and Rostransnadzor have conducted more than 80 joint raids, identifying 650 violators.
