Security officials urged to update passwords for important services at least once every three months

Users of online services, such as mail, banking applications and social networks, are advised to change passwords every three months to reduce the risk of information leakage. This was stated in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to law enforcement officials, if a user learns that the service they are using has become a victim of a leak, they need to immediately change the password. It is recommended to check its reliability using special online services.

According to Roskomnadzor, 35 cases of personal data leakage were recorded in the first six months of 2025, resulting in more than 39 million records being affected. In the last two months, information about such incidents has been received from five operators.
