Twitch May Leave the Russian Market: State Duma Does Not Rule Out Such a Scenario

At the end of June, the platform limited the maximum quality of video broadcasts for users in the Russian Federation

The State Duma expressed an opinion about the possible complete withdrawal of the Twitch streaming platform from the Russian market. The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Anton Gorelkin, from the United Russia party, noted that Twitch may independently decide to terminate its activities in Russia. According to him, there is no need to specifically limit its work.

I think that the "South Korean scenario" will be implemented sooner or later, and there is no need to somehow push Twitch to leave as soon as possible. In any case, a window of opportunity will soon open for its Russian alternatives.

Earlier, Twitch limited the quality of broadcasts for users from South Korea, and later the service did the same for Russian users.

The future of Twitch in Russia remains in question, and its possible departure may lead to changes in the streaming market.
