The contracts were concluded as part of the implementation of the GTLK investment project to update the Russian helicopter fleet using funds from the National Welfare Fund (NWF). This will improve the efficiency of air transportation and improve the quality of services provided.

GTLK signed financial lease agreements (leasing) with the airlines "Yeltsovka", "Chukotavia" and "Strezhevoye Aviation Enterprise" in late June - early July for the supply of six domestic Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters. GTLK plans to lease two aircraft to each airline by the end of July.

The multi-purpose Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters have unique flight-technical and operational characteristics. This allows them to be used in various climatic conditions. These helicopters can perform a wide range of aviation works (transportation of cargo and passengers, sanitary evacuation, fire fighting, construction and installation works, search and rescue operations).

Mi-8MTV-1 can be operated at temperatures from -50 to +50 °C. "Eights" are capable of taking off from unprepared sites. Such rotorcraft received special lighting equipment, thanks to which pilots can navigate in poor visibility.

The cabin is designed for 23 passengers. The helicopter has been modified to accommodate additional fuel tanks. The Mi-8MTV-1 has a place for an external suspension for transporting cargo up to 4 tons.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rostec delivered nine new Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters for air ambulance.
