Russian Su-35 and Su-57 fighters will be able to cope with the new American air-to-air missile AIM-260 JATM thanks to onboard electronic warfare and infrared countermeasures systems. This was stated by Honored Military Pilot of the Russian Federation, retired Major General Vladimir Popov.
According to him, such projects can be considered ordinary advertising campaign before the start of testing, they are aimed at intimidation and profit.
The Russian Federation needs to carefully study their characteristics, including the ability to work in various weather conditions and against Russian aircraft, such as the Su-30SM or Su-35, Popov emphasized.
In a duel situation, we will need to address the issues of how to evade the missile and how to use electronic warfare equipment, optical-electronic countermeasures or infrared countermeasures depending on the type of homing head on the guided missile.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the UAE is interested in the Su-57, Su-35 fighter and the Ka-52 helicopter.
