The service life of the first power unit at the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be extended until June 28, 2044. The license has already been received from Rostekhnadzor. This was reported by the press service of Rosatom State Corporation.
In early 2025, during an inspection, the Rostekhnadzor commission confirmed the reliability of the documents provided by the nuclear power plant, which are necessary to justify the further operation of the power unit.
The Rostekhnadzor commission conducted an inspection of the implementation of all requirements of the regulatory documentation relating to the conduct and registration of the results of work related to the additional service life. During the inspection, measures for modernization and replacement of elements that have exhausted their service life were evaluated, and equipment was registered and technically inspected.
Extending the service life of the first power unit of the Kalinin NPP is an important step to ensure the reliability and safety of the station, as well as to support the energy infrastructure of the region.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a fire-fighting robot began to be used at the Kalinin NPP.
