Children most often turn to artificial intelligence for help with homework, to learn something interesting, or to learn how to save money. These conclusions are contained in a study by T-Bank as part of the T-Data analytical project.
"Tell me an interesting fact"
In 38% of cases, users turn to the Junior Assistant (an AI assistant from T-Bank) with a request to tell them something interesting. A total of 70% of requests are related to finding entertainment or educational information.
Children are especially attracted to topics such as: space, dinosaurs, art, technology.
Questions about parents and games are also popular — children ask them in 17 % and 15 % of dialogues.
Literature and cinema are at the bottom of the list. They account for 5% of requests each. Examples: "Recommend an interesting book", "What movie to watch?" or "What works do you know?".
Help with lessons
Homework accounts for 26% of requests to the AI assistant. Most often (in 52% of cases), schoolchildren seek help in solving mathematical problems, such as equations or explaining formulas.
Another 39% of requests relate to natural sciences: physics, chemistry, and biology. The neural network helps schoolchildren understand complex phenomena by explaining them with examples from everyday life.
Schoolchildren turn to AI for help with the Russian language much less often — in only 6% of cases. Most often, they ask to explain punctuation, spelling, or list exceptions to the rules.
English language and literature took last place (2% of requests each). Children most often use the neural network to translate foreign words and sentences, ask to explain pronunciation and grammar, and also help with the analysis of literary works and writing essays.
Finance
Part of the conversations with the Junior Assistant touches on finance. Of these, 41% concern general questions about money: what is inflation, how banks work, and why savings are needed.
Children are most often interested in how to save money. In particular, they are concerned about how much they need to save. The virtual assistant was asked about this in 56% of cases. AI can help a child plan expenses and set financial goals.
Children are more likely to save money for large purchases than for everyday needs. The most popular desires were a mobile phone, computer, tablet, and gifts for friends or relatives. Some children want to save money "just in case".
Experts at VK also analyzed statistics on children's requests to the Marusya voice assistant during school and holidays. The results were similar.
Children are interested in interesting facts all year round. Marusya is approached with such requests in 41% of cases. Another popular request is help with calculations. About 10-12% of children use the AI calculator both during school and in their free time.
Third place in popularity is occupied by skills related to AI. At school, children most often use AI to translate foreign words and phrases. During the holidays, they enjoy solving riddles and participating in quizzes offered by the voice assistant.
