The Russian military spacecraft (SC) "Kosmos-2558" detached a space object from itself. This was reported by Dutch astronomer Marco Langbroek.
"Kosmos-2558" was launched into orbit on August 1, 2022. According to western sources, it is a satellite of the Russian Ministry of Defense, created under the program with the code name "Nivelir."
It is assumed that "Kosmos-2542/-2543", "Kosmos-2576", "Kosmos-2558" and "Kosmos-2588" built under this program are elements of anti-satellite weapons and accompany American optical reconnaissance satellites. In particular, "Kosmos-2558" is "hanging on the tail" of USA 326.
What exactly the released object is is not entirely clear: either an element of anti-satellite weapons, or a sub-satellite.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that details about the new Russian ballistic missile have appeared.
