Самокаты начали запрещать в Московской области

Kicksharing is being restricted in Mytishchi and Taldom due to safety and parking issues

The authorities of the Moscow region have begun taking measures to restrict the use of electric scooters in some cities. The first municipality to introduce restrictions was Mytishchi. The decision was the result of active complaints from local residents who expressed dissatisfaction with the disorder associated with kicksharing.

Residents of rural areas, such as the village of Pirogovsky, noted that electric scooters create dangerous situations on narrow village streets where there is no necessary infrastructure. Local authorities, taking into account the opinion of citizens, held a meeting with representatives of kicksharing companies and reached an agreement that the scooters should be removed from rural areas. Now renting electric scooters in these areas is impossible, although their use is not prohibited.

Following Mytishchi, Taldom joined the solution of the problem, where complaints about violations of parking rules and the use of scooters also began to arrive. The head of the district, Yuri Krupenin, noted that it is necessary to install special parking spaces and limit the speed of scooters to 20 km/h. Otherwise, the authorities may consider the possibility of a complete ban on kicksharing in the city.

The question of the need for kicksharing in general is also controversial. A survey conducted by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin showed that 54% of respondents are in favor of a complete ban on electric scooters as urban transport. Supporters of kicksharing argue that it helps to relieve roads, but opponents point to the growing number of accidents involving scooter riders.

In Moscow, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin is in favor of tightening control over users, rather than bans. Controllers work in the capital who record violations and impose fines on violators. However, the further away from the Moscow Ring Road, the fewer resources for control, and local authorities are forced to resort to bans as the only way to solve the problem.
