Auto journalist Maxim Kadakov drew attention to the traffic police statistics. It states that in the first five months of this year, 739 accidents occurred in the country involving drivers under the age of 16. This is 20.4% more than in the same period of 2024.
The number of people injured in such accidents increased by 22% (734 children), while the number of deaths decreased by 20%, reaching 12 people. The situation with teenagers driving motorcycles and mopeds, which account for 75% of all "children's" accidents, has become particularly alarming.
The State traffic inspectorate calls the main reason for the increase in the number of accidents involving children insufficient control on the part of parents, the traffic police believe.
It would be more correct to call it the connivance of parents who themselves buy mopeds and motorcycles for their children and allow them to go on the road.
The journalist recalled that in order to drive a moped or scooter, you must have a category M driver's license, which can be obtained from the age of 16 after training. In addition, the use of pit bikes on public roads is prohibited.
