Rostec: BT-3F armored personnel carrier may be equipped with additional protection against FPV drones

Ozdoyev: Any modern combat equipment should be modular

The Russian BT-3F armored personnel carrier, which has been criticized in the media for its lack of protection against FPV drones, may receive an additional protection kit. This was stated by Bekhan Ozdoyev, Industrial Director of the Armaments, Ammunition and Special Chemistry Cluster of Rostec.

According to him, any military equipment should be modular and adapt to different conditions. The BT-3F has such characteristics, Ozdoyev emphasized.

Experience shows that the use of electronic warfare, "barbecue cages", anti-cumulative grilles and anti-drone nets provides better protection against FPV drones than standard methods of protection. And a product with the necessary sets of additional protection has been submitted for state tests.

The representative of the state corporation noted that among the advantages of the BT-3F are high maneuverability, maintainability due to unification with the BMP-3, mobility, survivability, and economic efficiency.

The BT-3F was created as a tracked amphibious armored personnel carrier for marines, Ozdoyev recalled. In the basic version, the armored personnel carrier has protection against fragments, bullets up to 12.7 mm caliber and anti-personnel mines. In addition, in the frontal projection, the combat vehicle "holds" shells of a 30 mm cannon.

The armored personnel carrier can be used in the second line to ensure the delivery of troops. The vehicle is not suitable for storming enemy fortifications.
