Новая технология литья для дизельного двигателя Д-12 разработана специалистами СКБ-3 KMZ

Casting method with stiffening ribs eliminates defects in thin-walled castings

Specialists from SKB-3 KMZ have presented an innovative casting technology for the water pump socket of the D12 diesel engine. This element of the cooling system is characterized by complex geometry and extremely thin walls, which previously led to frequent defects in the form of warping.

To solve the problem, SKB-3 engineers developed special stiffening ribs integrated into the casting design. This made it possible to increase the rigidity of the walls and prevent deformation during production. As a result, the company successfully manufactured a batch of parts without defects and delivered it to the customer on time.

Warping during casting is the deformation of a casting (a product obtained by casting) that occurs due to uneven cooling, material shrinkage, or internal stresses during the solidification of the melt.
