FSUE "Rosmorport" has put into pilot operation a unified control center for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) in the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This is the easternmost facility of its kind in Russia, operating exclusively on domestic software.
The center is equipped with modern Russian developments. The NAVI GMDSS 4000 radio communication control system provides communication control, and the Octopus equipment monitoring complex monitors the operability of key nodes. The TAMGA NAVTEX software product is used for processing navigational warnings. All of these solutions are included in the register of Russian software and operate under the Astra Linux operating system.
Data visualization is carried out using the NavX cartographic system manufactured by TRANSAS, which displays the position of ships and their movement parameters in real time.
The project included a large-scale modernization of infrastructure. The coastal station of sea area A1 was reconstructed, and two new base stations were put into operation. The integration of existing transmitters in area A2 and the NAVTEX coastal station was also completed.
The center performs several critical functions: it provides stable communication with ships, automatically processes emergency calls, and participates in the organization of search and rescue operations. The NAVTEX service allows for the prompt transmission of meteorological data and navigational warnings to ships.
