AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov stated that growth in the Russian auto market is possible after a reduction in the key rate and the activation of auto lending. According to him, about 80% of Lada cars, especially in the maximum configurations, were previously sold on credit, but now the purchasing power is significantly limited.
Sokolov noted that high interest rates and tightened requirements for borrowers make car loans inaccessible to most Russians. At the same time, he emphasized that cars remain a reliable collateral when оформлении loans.
The head of AvtoVAZ also pointed out the need to stop the price competition, which, in his opinion, is being waged by Chinese automakers.
In some car dealerships, discounts reach 700–800 thousand rubles. This is comparable to the price of a basic Lada Granta. Cars are practically given away, and such a price war must be stopped
Sokolov expressed hope that the state industrial policy will help stabilize the market. In particular, he pointed to the problem of overproduction: dealers' warehouses have accumulated about 500 thousand unsold cars, which, according to him, hinders the development of localized enterprises.
