Roscosmos Plans to Build Two New Cosmodromes in Other Countries

Focus on the Asia-Pacific Region

Roscosmos has begun negotiations with two countries in the Asia-Pacific region (APR) regarding the construction of two cosmodromes on their territory. This was announced by the head of the state corporation, Dmitry Bakanov.

I will not name the two countries in the Asia-Pacific region that are considering building two launch pads, two cosmodromes, jointly with Russia. It is not yet at the stage where we are shaking hands, so I will not name them.

On May 23, 2025, an inspection was conducted on the progress of the construction of the airport complex of the Vostochny Cosmodrome. It is intended for testing spacecraft and upper stages. Assembly and testing of the space head unit will also be carried out there. The completion of the facility is scheduled for the end of 2026.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that an Il-76 aircraft with spacecraft had landed for the first time at the airport of the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
