Fully unmanned long-distance passenger trains may be launched in Russia by 2030. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrey Nikitin.
Technologies will definitely be used by 2030. First in freight trains, then in passenger trains.
According to Andrey Nikitin, everything is technologically ready for the launch of unmanned locomotives, and technologies continue to develop. However, a successful launch depends on gaining experience in their use.
In different situations, both Russian Railways and other companies are testing these technologies. That is, as soon as they are sure that it is absolutely safe, of course, they will be applied.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Railways may launch unmanned trains on the Moscow-St. Petersburg HSR.
