A safe mode will be introduced on the domestic video hosting platform Rutube in 2025, which will allow users to enjoy videos suitable for children and family viewing. This was announced by Sergey Kosinsky, Deputy General Director of Gazprom-Media Holding, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The safe mode will be available for both authorized and unauthorized users, and will restrict access to content intended for viewers over 18 years of age. Kosinsky noted that the new feature will help parents be confident that their children are watching only appropriate materials. At the first stage, users will be able to enjoy a selection of children's cartoons, films, content from children's bloggers and educational videos, and in the future the library will be expanded.
The decision to introduce a safe mode was made on the basis of research and user feedback, which emphasizes Rutube's commitment to ensuring digital media security. The launch of the function is scheduled for 2025, and in the future the platform plans to introduce separate children's profiles, which will help to separate the viewing space and create personalized recommendations for both adults and children.
