New Project 22120 Ice-Class Patrol Ship for the FSB of Russia Launched

The «Almaz» Shipbuilding Yard in St. Petersburg continues the serial production of «Purga» ice-class ships for border protection

The «Almaz» shipbuilding firm, located in St. Petersburg, has launched another Project 22120 patrol ship intended for the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia. According to the «PortNews» Telegram channel, after completing the tests, the ship will go to the Far East, where it will perform tasks to protect maritime borders.

Project 22120, known under the code «Purga», is a series of ice-class ships capable of operating effectively in thin ice up to 0.6 meters thick. These ships are equipped with modern radar systems that allow detecting targets at a distance of up to 40 nautical miles.
