The Russian military industry is capable of producing up to 70 Kh-101 cruise missiles for Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers. This conclusion was reached by analysts at Onet publication.
According to them, the Russian arsenal currently likely contains about 150 units of Kh-101, but their stock is constantly replenished. They estimated the total production potential at approximately 70 such missiles per month.
Work on the creation of the Kh-101 missile began during the USSR. In 2012, the Kh-101 (in nuclear configuration — Kh-102) was adopted by the Russian army. Distinctive features of the Kh-101 include a jamming system and reduced radar signature.
In a non-nuclear configuration, the Kh-101 carries a 400-kg high-explosive warhead. In a thermonuclear configuration, the power of the projectile is adjustable. The missiles are carried by Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers.
Earlier www1.ru reported that new MS-21 and Tu-214 aircraft will not become bombers — an easy target for any air defense.
