The Ulyanovsk Aviation Plant will increase the production of the newest Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft to 12 units per year, according to the "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" publication.
If the plant receives financial support and the necessary equipment, it plans to reach a production volume of 1 aircraft per month – 12 per year – during 2026-2027.
After 2028, the state wants even more: initially 18, and then 24 aircraft per year.
But let's be realistic – not everything at once. There are plans, there is money, but creating a powerful human resources potential and production complex is a very difficult task.
The heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A is a deep modernization of the Il-76MD aircraft. The new Il-76MD-90A is equipped with PS-90A-76 engines with a thrust of up to 14.5 tons instead of the "standard" D-30KP2 with a thrust of up to 12 tons.
The aircraft received a new wing and a "glass" cockpit; dial gauges were replaced with devices with LCD displays. The payload of the updated Il-76MD-90A increased to 60 tons, and the range of delivery of troops and cargo increased to 5,000 km.
