The first launch of the Express-RV satellites for controlling unmanned aerial vehicles in the Arctic zone is scheduled for the end of 2026. This was announced by Dmitry Bakanov, head of the Roscosmos State Corporation.
The first launch is scheduled for the end of 2026. These devices are already being manufactured by ISS Reshetnev, and we are carefully monitoring to ensure that there are no delays.
Four satellites will be required to provide round-the-clock communication. The need for their creation is due to the high cost of deploying ground infrastructure in the difficult conditions of the Arctic.
The Express-RV satellites will become one of the four elements in the development of Russia's orbital grouping. In addition to them, it is planned to deploy 300 satellites in the first stage and more than 900 in the second. The devices will be at an altitude of up to 800 km. This will provide Internet access with speeds up to 1 Gbps anywhere in the world.
The third segment of the program includes a standard geostationary telecommunications service that will provide broadband Internet access and direct television broadcasting to VSAT stations. The fourth segment is the development of the Luch system, designed for information support of rocket and space technology facilities.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Luch satellites will reach a new level.
