Drones Pass Tests: Rosseti Group Completes Testing of Robotic Equipment for Power Line Repair

New technology allows servicing power grids under voltage using drones

Testing of a robotic system for servicing power lines (PL) without power outages has been completed at the Intelligent Digital Grids Laboratory (IDGL) test site.

The key element of the system is unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that install measuring devices on live wires. This allows for quickly identifying short circuits and monitoring the balance of electricity transmission without stopping the current supply. According to the company, the technology significantly reduces repair time and increases the reliability of power supply. The development belongs to specialists from the Rosseti Group's scientific and technical center and will soon be implemented in the Rosseti Lenenergo networks.
