The R.E. Alekseev Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Ships shared information about the new high-speed planing boat "Marlin." The vessel is designed for operation both as a pleasure boat and for official travel and special tasks.
The "Marlin" was created as a platform for developing high speeds on planing vessels. It is equipped with two diesel engines with a capacity of 850 hp each. The drive system uses Arneson-type partially submerged propellers from the company "Morskaya Energetika."
A key engineering feature of the vessel is the patented bottom attachments—longitudinal-transverse steps that reduce hydrodynamic resistance. Thanks to this and the hull's features, the "Marlin" can reach speeds of up to 65 knots (approximately 120 km/h).
The boat is suitable for operation in coastal marine areas and inland waterways. The hull is made of corrosion-resistant aluminum-magnesium alloy. One of the key advantages of the "Marlin" is its stability on the move—the vessel is not subject to the "porpoising" effect, even when moving at high speed in rough conditions.
